The Minister of Communication and Information Technology (Menkominfo) Rudiantara held an information campaign on the East Palapa Ring Package Project in Jayapura, Papua (02/23/2017) and Manokwari, West Papua (02/24/2017). This socialization event was attended by all Regional Governments and staff from both the Provinces of Papua and West Papua.

On this occasion the Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara conveyed the project implementation plan, and emphasized the role of the local government in the Palapa Ring project. The Palapa Ring project can be implemented if there is assistance from the Regents, Heads of Communication and Information Services and other relevant parties or agencies, who have permission to carry out development.

The Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara conveyed that the Palapa Ring Timur Package project is targeted to be completed in 2019. With the completion of the Palapa Ring Project, as many as 514 districts in 2019 have to be connected with high-speed internet access.
