PT. Mora Telematics Indonesia (Moratelindo) won the Palapa Ring West package tender, this was announced by the Ministry of Communications and on January 22, 2016. The West Package reaches Riau and Riau islands (up to Natuna Island) with a total length of optic fiber cable around 2,000 km.
Palapa Ring is a national optical fiber backbone network infrastructure development project that aims to equalize broadband access along 36,000 km. This project consists of 7 (seven) small optical fiber circles namely Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Sulawesi and Maluku.
It is expected that this project can be completed by the end of 2018, so that on January 1, 2019, 440 municipalities and regencies throughout Indonesia can be connected to Broadband Internet. (Yk)
