"With a total of 915 km of undersea fiber optic cable will connect Jakarta & Surabaya (Jakarta-Cirebon-Semarang-Surabaya)"

As one of the countries with a rapidly growing population of 267 million, the Indonesian government is committed to ensuring equitable telecommunications and broadband access. In line with Moratelindo's vision of continuing to develop a national fiber optic network with the construction of a high-speed submarine cable system named Jayabaya, this project uses a total of 915 km of fiber optic cables supplied by the fiber optic cable company, Nexans.

The Jayabaya Line will connect between Jakarta and Surabaya. This network will consist of three submarine lines; Jakarta to Cirebon, Cirebon to Semarang, and Semarang to Surabaya.

The fiber optic cable used for this project uses the URC-1 design by Nexans. For seaside lanes with water depths below 20 meters will use fiber optic cables equipped with double armored (DA) construction for extra protection against damage caused by ships or fishing activities. For depths between 20 and 200 meters a single-armored (SA) optical cable will be used.

The cabling process is ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018.
