PT Mora Telematics Indonesia Tbk (Moratelindo) again held a launch event for their newest service entitled “Soft Launching MoNICA North Sumatra”. MoNICA (Moratelindo Network Interconnect and Content Autonomous) is a world-class initiative in the form of a Neutral Internet Exchange which aims to provide high-quality networks and diverse content to internet users in Indonesia.

This launch event was held at The View Music Lounge and Bar, Cambridge Hotel, Medan and was attended by representatives of local ISP companies from Medan and Aceh. The choice of Medan as the host for the launch of the second MoNICA was due to several factors including; (1) because the growth and demand for content needs in Medan is very high; (2) Medan is also the location of Moratelindo's data center; and (3) Medan has adequate infrastructure, providing significant cost efficiency to support the development of local ISPs.

MoNICA is expected to have a positive impact on the Indonesian telecommunications industry by offering an efficient central point for internet traffic exchange involving domestic and international telecommunications operators, Internet service providers (ISP), as well as content and games providers. More efficient traffic exchange is expected to drive the growth of the telecommunications industry.
