Review of the Preparation of the Palapa Ring East

PT Palapa Timur Telematics (PTT) conducted a work visit in order to directly observe the preparation for the deployment of the East Palapa Ring Package submarine fiber optic cable from the Pacific Guardian Ship, Teliri Ship and PT Communication Cable Systems Indonesia (CCSI) Depot in Cilegon and Peacock.
The working visit was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Communication and Information, Mass Media and several customer and partner representatives from PTT and PT Mora Telematics Indonesia (Moratelindo) including Telkom, XL, Indosat, H31, STI, PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta, PT Artha Telekomindo, PT Jala Lintas Media, PT Primacom Interbuana, PT Nap Info Lintas Nusa, Indonesian Air Force, Freeport, BNI and several other customers and partners.

The East Palapa Ring Package Project had previously entered the initial deployment phase of the submarine cable, on May 11, 2018, which began in the Teluk Bintuni Regency - West Papua Province by the Nostag Ship 10. The deployment by the Nostag 10 ship began from Bintuni - Tangguh - Teminambuan - Timika - Agats - Kepi, with a total cable length of 743,925 kilometers.

In addition to the Nostag 10 Ship, there are 2 (two) other ships that will be used to carry out the process of deploying the East Palapa Ring sea cable, namely:

  1. Pacific Guardian ship. The deployment will be carried out in several segments:
    Segment 1: Waingapu - Sabu - Baa - Kupang.
    Segment 2: Alor - Wetar - Tiakur.
    Segment 3: Saumlaki - Tual - Dobo
    With a total cable length of 1,620,415 kilometers
  2. Teliri Ship. The deployment will be carried out in several segments:
    Segment 1: Manokwari - Numfor - Sorendiweri - Biak - Serui - Botawa - Nabire- Raisei - Ransiki.
    Segment 2: Tiakur - Saumlaki - Dobo - Timika PLSE
    With a total cable length of 1,950,223 kilometers.


Currently PTT is also in the process of negotiating to add 1 (one) more ship to help accelerate the process of deploying the East Palapa Ring submarine cable. The process of deploying the East Palapa Ring Package project has now reached 50 percent of the total planned cable deployment of around 8,454 kilometers. The entire Palapa Ring Eastern Package Project cable deployment is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.

At present PTT is also in the process of negotiating to add 1 (one) more ship to help accelerate the process of deploying the East Palapa Ring submarine cable. The entire Palapa Ring Eastern Package Project cable deployment is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.
